Modular Smart Interface (MSI)
What is a Modular Smart Interface (MSI)?
A Modular Smart Interface (MSI) is an add-on to various DEWETRON hardware elements. Each MSI is a separate signal conditioner which we designed for a dedicated sensor type. It contains a TEDS (“Transducer Electronic Data Sheet”) chip which provides the measurement system any necessary information to adjust the amplifier accordingly. In the following picture, you can see how the signal conditioner looks like.

Thanks to this technology, you can expand the measurement functionality of the following devices:
As of today, DEWETRON offers 9 MSIs with several options. Hence, to get a comprehensive overview table, please visit the respective webpage. Due to the plurality of MSI options, they extend the measurement capability to the following inputs:
- Charge
- Bridge
- LVDT
- Thermocouple
- RTD (Pt100, Pt200, Pt500, Pt1000, Pt2000)
- Voltage up to 600 V
- Current of 4-20 mA (loop powered sensors)
- IEPE®
Setting up with OXYGEN
Our measurement software OXYGEN automatically detects any Modular Smart Interface (MSI) and adjusts the channel settings accordingly. In addition to that, an MSI channel shows up in the data channels list as well as the channel overview table like any other channel (Figure 2). As mentioned previously, OXYGEN not only displays the signal conditioner but also automatically applies the right channel settings like mode, range, and also other settings according to the MSI type (Figure 2). As a result of varying Modular Smart Interface (MSI) types, each of them offers different channel settings.
