OXYGEN 7.2 – A comprehensive update with many new features
With OXYGEN 7.2, we are releasing the second update for OXYGEN 7. This release focuses on enhancing power analysis tools, introducing a new header-based search filter for *.dmd files, adding new SCPI and Data Stream commands, and delivering numerous usability improvements and other enhancements.
New features
- Power improvements
- Bridge balance via measurement screen
- Modal test extensions
- Header search for *.dmd-files
- ADMA braking data
- Datastream extensions
- New SCPI commands
- Miscellaneous enhancements
Power improvements
With the release of our new software update, we improve our optional power group feature with three key enhancements:
1. Shorter flicker aggregation time
The minimum aggregation time for flicker measurements, including Pst (short-term flicker perceptibility) and Plt (long-term flicker perceptibility), has been significantly reduced. OXYGEN 7.2 now supports an aggregation time as short as 1 second, enabling more precise and responsive flicker analysis.
2. Multiple DC groups for efficiency analysis:
OXYGEN now supports up to six DC groups for efficiency analysis. A substantial increase was made as the previous efficiency analysis of DC power was limited to one group. This enhancement allows for the individual analysis and monitoring of each of the six DC power groups through dedicated channels (Pi_DC, Ui_DC, Ii_DC) or collectively in the form of total channels (P_DC, U_DC, I_DC).

3. Harmonics table improvements:
Can now display harmonics, interharmonics, or both within the Power Instrument, providing a more detailed analysis of harmonics. The table’s interface is also more customizable, with options to change font size, align text, and define the number of lines per column.

Bridge balance via measurement screen
OXYGEN 7.2 introduces the ability to balance bridge sensors directly from the measurement screen via the control instrument using the new control-type Bridge balance. Note that this action is solely applicable in LIVE mode (not during recording) and is applied to all channels configured to mode: Bridge.
Modal test extensions
Geometry files created or edited in OXYGEN can now be easily exported as *.uff files, streamlining the workflow.

Header search for *.dmd-files
The new search filter allows you to manage and retrieve data more efficiently and search for *.dmd files based on specific header information. You can now filter by several header types and their respective header values. Additionally, this feature supports logical combinations of multiple search configurations for more precise results.
Example of Use:
- Open the Search Files… option in the Open Data File popup (①).
- Configure the folders to be included in the search using the Configure… button (②).
- Set the desired search conditions (③). In the case of Fig. 3, the search includes files with the following header criteria:
- Engineer: RG
- RPM_ideal: 600
- Test Duration [s]: 100 or 200
- Finally, select and open the desired file(s).

ADMA braking data
For the automotive sector, we have added the decoding of brake data from ADMA systems. These data can be acquired directly from ADMA systems via Ethernet, which enables quick and easy integration of brake test data into OXYGEN. Note that this feature requires the OXY-OPT-IMU-ADMA option.
Data Stream extensions
The update includes enhancements for the OXY-OPT-DATASTREAM option, allowing you to send data blocks at specified time intervals. Hence, two new commands are added to our Data Stream plugin:
- :DSTREAM:INTERVAL[<GRP>] <INTERVAL>
- :DSTREAM:INTERVAL[<GRP>]?
For detailed information on these commands and their syntax, please refer to the Data Stream Manual or our online help resources.
New SCPI commands
The update also expands the software’s command set with new SCPI commands for executing bridge balancing and enabling or disabling bridge shunting:
- :CHANNELlist:ACTion:BALance
- :CHANNELlist:ACTion:SHUNT:{ON/OFF}
Please have a look at the SCPI Technical Reference Manual or our online help resources for detailed command set.
Further miscellaneous enhancements
Link groups
For the Recorder and Chart Recorder instruments, it is now possible to define Link groups based on time axes. This feature allows you to divide recorder instruments into groups based on their time axes and synchronize them across multiple measurement screens. This facilitates coordination in complex setups.

Display of slot number
The slot number is now displayed in the Channel List, providing a clearer overview and making it easier to manage large systems.

Module support for Debian
TRION-EtherCAT modules are now compatible with OXYGEN under Debian, expanding platform support.
More input channels for min() and max() formula
The update allows up to 128 input channels for the min() and max() formulas, enabling the monitoring of global minimum and maximum values across multiple channels. This can be particularly useful for tasks like temperature testing or battery voltage monitoring.
Notification “Copied to clipboard”
A “Copied to clipboard” notification has been implemented when copying instrument data, giving you a clear feedback that the action was successful.

Optional rearm levels for Window IN/OUT trigger action
Optional rearm levels for the Window IN/OUT trigger condition type have been added. This feature allows to set upper and/or lower rearm levels, enhancing control over trigger actions.
